5 Signs It's Time to Upgrade Your Laptop

A slow laptop doesn't always need replacing — but sometimes it does. Here's how to tell the difference.

1. It can't hold a charge

If your battery drains in under an hour and a replacement isn't available or economical, that's a strong upgrade signal.

2. You're always out of storage

Constant "disk full" warnings slow everything down. Sometimes an SSD upgrade fixes it; often it's a sign the whole machine is due.

3. It struggles with everyday tasks

When a few browser tabs and a video call bring things to a crawl, your RAM and processor have been outpaced by modern software.

4. Repairs cost more than half a replacement

A good rule: if the repair quote is more than 50% of a solid replacement, put the money toward the new machine.

5. It can't run what you need

New software, AI tools, or your course requirements may simply demand more than your current laptop can give.
